New England Company: Also known as Company for Propagation of the Gospel in New England and the Parts Adjacent in America; Company founded in 1649 and incorporated in 1662; in 1663 Company was responsible for printing Eliot's Indian Bible, the first translation into any North American Native tongue. // "In the territories of the Hudson's Bay Company an establishment for the instruction of the Indians might be formed with a prospect of more extensive success than in any other part of the British dominions in North America" (page [3]).
